1979 to 1992
UAH vs GISS (1979-1992). This shows that older GISS (surface thermometer data in green) data runs colder than UAH (satellite in blue). The homogenization adjustment to the GISS data makes older data colder than newer data and part of the difference is a warm bias warmer using land stations whereas the UAH calculation produces a worldwide average evenly sampling land and ocean.
